The RURALED project aims to address the gaps, problems, and needs of rural areas for the implementation of an inclusive Smart Village Strategy by promoting the development of transversal competences of adult learners and rural residents. Compared to urban areas, rural areas face a lack of infrastructure and services, a poorly diversified economy, low incomes, a higher risk of poverty and social exclusion, farmland degradation, inadequate educational facilities, and a high rate of early school leavers and dropouts.
The general objectives are:
- To promote the development of transversal competences of adult learners and rural residents to tackle the gaps, problems, and needs of rural areas for the implementation of an inclusive Smart Village Strategy.
- To address the digital divide between rural and urban areas by providing innovative and participatory methods of education and training.
- To provide lifelong learning opportunities for rural communities in order to develop new transversal competences, such as entrepreneurship, innovation, and sustainability.
- To involve rural communities in the development of training programs, assessment tools, and scenario development.
The main results of the project are:
- Methodological framework for developing competences in rural areas.
- Community assessment tool to measure the competences of rural residents.
- Training handbook for the RURALED project.
